On Sept 12, 2021, we visited the place where three creeks join in Salt Lake City. The three creeks are Red Butte, Emigration and Parleys. They flow together to become the Jordan River.
This is what the place looked like before the creeks were brought above ground:
This is what it looks like now:
There is no place to park right at the site. We drove around until we found a place where we could open the ramp on our handicapped van.
We parked very close to this street corner:
Finding the confluence of the rivers was easy. We just followed the Jordan River Parkway heading east. The parkway is well identified with a stripe down the middle of the path to separate those walking, running, bike riding in one direction from those going the other way.
On the way to the actual park, we discovered this little gem. It's a pathway leading down to the creek. We took some wonderful pictures of this quiet, lonely spot in the middle of Salt Lake City.
We decided to take pictures of each other, too.
We continued on to see the actual confluence of rivers (okay, creeks) and took some pictures.
There is an inviting entrance to the park from the street:
On one of the bridges, artists have displayed their impressions of the project on the railings:
We wandered around a little on the way back to the van and saw some other art works made from telephone poles.
All the paths are great for wheelchairs, power chairs and scooters. One of the bridges is old and bumpy but that was the only flaw in the entire park.
There are some beautiful old trees. We didn't see any restrooms at all.
We did see a black bunny and a squirrel but not together. Bill said the black rabbit or hare must have been an escaped pet. After looking at the Utah Wildlife site, I have to agree with him. I don't see any black bunnies there. This is from a free photo site online:
I was looking forward to feeding the ducks but we didn't see any ducks or other birds.
If you travel with wheels this is a good place to visit.
