It's hard to believe we have lived near Salt Lake City for thirty years and never visited this lovely place. However, if you are looking for a shady place, this is not it. There is some shade but most of the path is in the sun.
Each participating Utah-based nation group is allotted a plot in which to create a garden with native plantings and garden architecture and statues of world peace leaders typical of the homeland and its culture. The Peace Gardens currently represents the cultural diversity of twenty-six nations and encourages pleasant wandering and meditation by visitors.
We wandered over to the river. It was so quiet. All that could be heard was bird song. We thought we would walk on the path but saw that it is was being used by bicyclists. And we ran into what we took to be homeless people living there. They seemed nice enough but we decided to stay in the park proper. There are security officers in the park as well as visitors and people doing the gardening.
We came across what looked like the site of a recent wedding. There were rose petals on the path. This strikes me as a delightful place to be married at least in the spring, summer or fall.
I want to try this one again in the fall. It's such a pleasant place.
