Echo Reservoir

I saw a TV report on Utah's newest state reservoir and thought it might be okay for wheelchairs. It's not.

The first thing the ranger told us is that there is no accessible restroom. We both needed one after our long drive so we decided to use it anyway.

I made the mistake of letting Bill go in by himself. He fell and scraped his arm. I should have gone in with him.

This is a nice place for boating and water skiing. I didn't see anyone fishing.

I saw a trail online that seemed to go part of the way around the lake. It is flat and I thought it might okay for our chairs. I was wrong. It's way too bumpy.

The ranger was right to warn us off. We are seniors so we only paid $6 to find out this is not the place for us.

International Peace Gardens

It's hard to believe we have lived near Salt Lake City for thirty years and never visited this lovely place. However, if you are looking for a shady place, this is not it. There is some shade but most of the path is in the sun.

Each participating Utah-based nation group is allotted a plot in which to create a garden with native plantings and garden architecture and statues of world peace leaders typical of the homeland and its culture. The Peace Gardens currently represents the cultural diversity of twenty-six nations and encourages pleasant wandering and meditation by visitors.

We wandered over to the river. It was so quiet. All that could be heard was bird song. We thought we would walk on the path but saw that it is was being used by bicyclists. And we ran into what we took to be homeless people living there. They seemed nice enough but we decided to stay in the park proper. There are security officers in the park as well as visitors and people doing the gardening.

We came across what looked like the site of a recent wedding. There were rose petals on the path. This strikes me as a delightful place to be married at least in the spring, summer or fall.

I want to try this one again in the fall. It's such a pleasant place.

Three Creeks Confluence

On Sept 12, 2021, we visited the place where three creeks join in Salt Lake City. The three creeks are Red Butte, Emigration and Parleys. ...
